DESIGNER

MARCO ACERBIS

Marco Acerbis, born in 1973, graduated from the Architecture Department of Politecnico di Milano in 1998. Between 1997 and 2004, he lived in London and worked in Lord Norman Foster's studio. During this period, he was involved in the construction of an eight-story Medical Research Building on the Imperial College campus in London. He also worked as the Project Architect on the Capital City Academy project, a 250-meter-long building with a capacity of 1400 students, which was inaugurated by Tony Blair.

Acerbis, who founded his own architectural office in Italy in 2004, has brought his interest in designing at different scales to his practice, aiming to create globally designed spaces by combining skills, ideas, tools, and technologies.

In 2004, her Vertigo floor lamp, designed for Fontana Arte, quickly became a bestseller and is now considered one of today's icons. This design is currently part of the permanent collection of the Vitra Design Museum. Her Prius door handle, designed for Colombo Design, won a Special Mention at the XXI Compasso d'Oro ADI. Her Kloe armchair, designed for Desalto, was awarded the 2009 Red Dot Design Award. Her Wave luminaire collection, designed for IB Rubinetterie, won the 2015 Red Dot Design Award and the 2013 Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award.

Due to its interest in sustainable architecture, Acerbis has also worked in this field and managed the design and construction of the Polins building, which has the CasaClima A+ certification, the highest energy efficiency standard.
